Visiting Earlham College scored the game's lone run in the sixth inning on an RBI single, and held the Mount to six hits, en route to a 1-0 shutout over the Lions on Wednesday evening. The Mount, 11-15-1, 6-9 in the HCAC, will be back in action on April 18 when they host Manchester College in a conference doubleheader.

The two teams were locked in a scoreless tie through the first four innings, when Earlham posted a run in the fifth. Through five innings, the Lions had numerous opportunities to get on the scoreboard, but stranded six runners on base during that period. Earlham out-hit the Mount, 11-6 in the game, with the Lions' Michael Gill (Burlington, KY/Conner) collecting two hits. Teammate Matt Hofmann (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) had a double.

Collin Shaw (West Chester, OH/Lakota West) saw his record drop to 2-2 on the season. He pitched eight innings and had six strikeouts. Nathan Lambert (Lawrenceburg, IN/Lawrenceburg) pitched one shutout inning in relief.
