The College of Mount St. Joseph baseball team kicked off the 2014 portion of their home schedule on Monday night with a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Wilmington College. The Lions, 3-5-1 this season, return to action on Mar. 19 when they host Centre College.

The Quakers got on the scoreboard first in the game in the second inning, plating an unearned run off Mount starter Collin Shaw (West Chester, OH/Lakota West). Shaw and his Wilmington counterpart would lock up over the next few innings to toss scoreless baseball until the Lions' bottom of the seventh. Matt Lakamp (North Bend, OH/Taylor) tied the game at one-all with an RBI single, scoring Rob Shaw (West Chester, OH/Lakota West) and Taylor Alley (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) would break the tie with a squeeze bunt, scoring teammate Drew Werner (Sunman, IN/East Central). Lakamp added the third run later in the inning scoring on a wild pitch. Collin Shaw gave way to reliever Matt Hoffman (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) to start the seventh, and he pitched two scoreless innings, allowing one hits with two strikeouts. Drew Ernst (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) tossed a scoreless ninth to pick up the save. Hoffmann's win was his first of the season.

Collin Shaw went six innings, allowed three hits and four walks, while recording nine Ks. Lakamp led the Lions with two hits while Rob Shaw contributed a double.
