Lions' baseball players Chase Stevens and Spencer Gommel selected All-Conference

College of Mount St. Joseph baseball players Chase Stevens (Harrison, OH/Harrison) and Spencer Gommel (Greensburg, IN/Oldenburg Academy) have been selected Honorable Mention All-HCAC.

Stevens, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, had two wins overall this season for the Lions, pitched in a team-high 68 2/3 innings, a 3.93 ERA and 32 strikeouts. He appeared in 10 games, nine of which he started, and tossed three complete games. In seven HCAC games, Stevens had six starts and two complete games, while garnering two victories on the mound.

Gommel, a sophomore designated hitter, batted .277 overall and played in 24 games, 18 as a starter. He had 18 hits, and 15 runs scored; leading the team in home runs (two) and he added three RBI and nine walks. In 20 conference games, Gommel hit .295 and had two home runs.

The end-of-season conference awards were the first such for both Gommel and Stevens.
