The College of Mount St. Joseph jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, only to see their offense stall as they fell for third straight time to Hanover College, 9-1. The Mount is 4-13 overall, 0-5 in the HCAC and will be back in action on April 2 when they host Earlham College in conference play.
Cole Wendeln (Florence, KY/Boone County) got the Lions' on the scoreboard in the first inning with an RBI groundout, but that was all the scoring the Mount would muster in the game, as they were held to four hits and four walks, stranding six runners on base. Hanover tied the game at one-all in the second inning, and then exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning. They would add a final run in the eighth inning.
Four different Mount players had one hit each in the game, while Hanover collected 11 hits, and the Lions' walked nine batters. Collin Shaw (West Chester, OH/Lakota West) started for the Mount and pitched 3 2/3 innings, falling to 0-3 on the season.
